Home-Start Wigtownshire Newsletter  Winter 2011

Big Lottery Funding – Great news!  We have been awarded lottery funding for the next five years to run the Tweenies in Newton Stewart, Sorbie and Stranraer.  This will secure the future for these important groups.

Claire McKie from Newton Stewart has been appointed Project Worker for the Tweenies Group in Stranraer.   We welcome Claire to the team and look forward to Noeleen coming back in the New Year.

Christmas Party – Our family party was held on Thursday, 15th December in the Ryan Centre, Stranraer.  Lots of fun was had by all and even Santa made a special visit.  We were lucky to receive money from Cash for Kids towards party costs.

Preparation Course – The latest course finished at the end of November and we now have 4 new volunteers – Margaret, Deborah, Lisa and Jacqueline who we hope to match with families in 2012. A new course is to be arranged in the New Year and dates will follow.

Scheme Visit – The scheme had a visit from Cabinet Secretary Mike Russell MSP and Russell Brown MP also called in to offer his support.

Volunteer’s Thank You – Will be organised in the New Year – watch out for  date!

Student Placement – Clare Edmondson who was a student with Home-Start has passed her 3rd year exams with distinction. Well Done Clare!
